A local man and a woman, aged 28 and 30, were detained on Saturday by the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) for allegedly attempting to smuggle contraband into the country.
The two were found during a joint patrol by the Company ‘C’ Police Reserve Unit and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
The patrol found the two suspects after stopping a vehicle at Jalan Kampong Bebuloh in the Brunei-Muara District.
According to the RBPF, the patrol discovered suspicious packages inside the vehicle, and brought the vehicle along with evidence to the Limau Manis Police Station for an initial investigation.
According to the RBPF the packages contain 36 bottles of alcohol and 16 cartons of cigarettes. The case was transferred to Royal Customs and Excise Department for further investigation.
