Izah Azahari

The Enforcement Unit of the Tutong District Office issued compounds to two companies found violating the Miscellaneous Offences Act 2021 for piling up garbage and throwing away food scraps in public places.

The companies have been fined BND200 under the Miscellaneous Offences Act 2021 and are required to settle the fine within seven days.

Failure to pay the fine within the period from the compound issuance date will see the companies being brought to court.

If found guilty, the companies may face a fine of between BND2,000 and BND10,000.

For the second or subsequent offence, they could face between BND10,000 and BND30,000 fine, imprisonment for a period not exceeding 12 months, or both.

The agency reminded the public, companies and business owners to keep the environment clean, especially in areas of business activities as well as public areas.
