Twelve immigration offenders nabbed in ‘Kabat’ operations

The Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) recently carried out three operations codenamed ‘Kabat’ in Brunei-Muara and Belait districts leading to the arrest of 12 immigration offenders.

At a car workshop in Mukim Kilanas, four foreign nationals were arrested, believed to have been working on a visitor’s pass.

Meanwhile, at a site in Mukim Gadong ‘A’, inspections were carried out on 161 foreign nationals, where six were detained for failing to submit valid documents.

In Mukim Liang, a foreign national was found to have committed two offences – overstaying after his immigration pass had expired and failing to present a valid travel document.

Meanwhile, a 46-six-year-old Bangladeshi national had also been sentenced to five months in prison and three strokes of the cane for overstaying after the immigration pass expired.

He was also listed as an employee who run away from his employer.

The prosecution was carried out by INRD prosecuting officer Mohammad Zul Azri bin Ranee and made before Magistrate Nur Eleana binti Dato Seri Paduka Haji Hairol Arni.
