Recipients of the kurnia peribadi (personal gifts) from His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in the Tutong District yesterday expressed their gratitude for the much needed assistance to ease their burden for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.
His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen, acting as His Majesty’s personal representative, presented the kurnia to recipients in the Tutong District.
Upon arrival, His Royal Highness was greeted by Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah as the head of the ceremony in the Tutong District and Acting Tutong District Officer Mohammad Sofian bin Haji Basri.
Md Jin bin Haji Japar who is a heart patient said, “This is my first time receiving kurnia so I felt extra excited and happy. Thanks to His Majesty’s kurnia, I will be able to purchase medical equipment such as oxygen tanks.”
The 62-year-old Kampong Kupang resident added, “I thank His Majesty for the kurnia and pray for His Majesty’s continued good health.”
Meanwhile, Muhd Asyraf Arsyad bin Abdullah also received the kurnia with his mother Nurul Nadhirah binti Morsidi.
Nurul Nadhirah said, “My son is receiving kurnia as an orphan. Alhamdulillah, he has been receiving kurnia since the age of six. We usually use half the kurnia for Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration and the rest for school items.”
She continued, “We thank His Majesty for the donation for orphans as well as those with special needs. We feel blessed and pray for His Majesty’s continued good health.”
Muhamad Azril bin Abdullah Ayeh @ Lampas Anak Ayeh said, “I have been receiving kurnia under the category of underprivileged. I feel happy and grateful to receive the kurnia from His Majesty. I hope to use the money to buy items for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.”
The 52-year-old added, “I thank His Majesty for the kurnia and wish for the continued good health of His Majesty and the royal family.”
Nur Darina @ Nurin binti Muhd Darin is one of the many receiving His Majesty’s kurnia under the category of people with different abilities.
Her mother Norajalinah binti Anak said, “The kurnia will be used to purchase my daughter’s Raya clothing as well as for her personal needs such as formula milks and hygiene products.”
She added, “We would like to thank His Majesty on the presentation of kurnia and may Allah the Almighty bless His Majesty and the royal family.” – James Kon
