Tutong Kem Primary School was crowned the overall champion, followed by Pengiran Kesuma Negara Bukit Beruang Primary School the as first runner-up and Binturan Primary School as the second runner-up in the Primary School Kids Athletics Festival 2024 for Cluster 5 at the Tutong Sports Complex on Saturday.
In the male category, Tutong Kem Primary School claimed the top spot, with Binturan Primary School in second place and Pengiran Dipa Negara Pengiran Jaya Primary School Sengkarai in third.
In the female category, Pengiran Kesuma Negara Bukit Beruang Primary School emerged as the champions, while Bukit Panggal Primary School and Perpindahan Kampong Bukit Beruang Primary School finishing in second and third places.
Some 196 students from 19 primary schools participated in the festival, which featured events such as formula bends, backward overhead throw, hurdles relay and three-step bound, and held across six clusters, beginning with Cluster 1 on May 12.
Head of Cluster 5 at the Department of Schools Abdul Wafiy Sia bin Abdullah Sia was the guest of honour.
The Physical and Recreation Division of the Department of Co-Curriculum Education at the Ministry of Education organised the event.
The event also served to promote a balanced, healthy lifestyle by incorporating athletics basics in a series of fun games. – Rokiah Mahmud
