The Tutong District Scouts Association (PPDT) and the Astronomical Society of Brunei Darussalam (PABD) organised an astronomy night recently.
Secretary of Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) and Vice President of PABD Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Akop, Head of Tutong Youth and Sports Department Kamil bin Lamat, Deputy Chief Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association (PPNBD) Skip Mohammad Arif bin Abdul Hadi and PPNBD International Commissioner Skip Haji Abdul Manan bin Haji Abdul Latif were present.
The event at the Tutong Youth Centre began with a presentation of mementos by PPDT Acting District Commissioner Skip Haji Muhd Sufian bin Haji Abdul Karim to Haji Abdul Aziz and Kamil followed by a speech from Cub Scouts representative from Chung Hwa Kiudang School Nathan Pong.
It continued with an astronomy talk by PABD representative Muhammad Husaini bin Ali Hassan to 50 Cub Scouts members from Chung Hwa School Tutong and Chung Hwa School Kiudang and their families.
Following the talk, the participants used telescopes to look at the Milky Way and planets such as Jupiter and Saturn.
