Tutong company hit with BND1K fine

A company was slapped with a compound fine of BND1,000 by the Enforcement Unit of the Tutong District Office yesterday.

The company violated Section 12(1)(e), Chapter 30 of the Miscellaneous Offences Act (Amendment) 2021 for leaving rubbish in public areas.

The company has been given seven days to settle the fine.

The failure to do so will result in the case being brought to court. If found guilty, they will face a fine between BND2,000 and BND10,000 for the first offence, and between BND10,000 and BND30,000, imprisonment of no more than 12 months, or both, for subsequent offences.

The agency reminded the public, especially companies and owners of commercial premises, to maintain the cleanliness of their surroundings and not to dispose rubbish in public areas. – James Kon
