Turning spotlight on HR global trends

Forty Human Resource Society (HRS) members comprising HR professionals from the public and private sectors attended a learn and connect dialogue session by Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) Asia at The Rizqun International Hotel recently.

The event kicked-off with opening remarks by HRS President and founder Hajah Zainab binti MA Omar, who is the Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) HR Director and Brunei Shell Joint Venture (BSJV) HR in Country.

Business Development Manager of CIPD Asia Lim Zuo Han offered an introduction to CIPD, expressing its interest in collaborating with existing HR society in Brunei to strengthen and advance HR profession in the nation.

The session continued with the main event, a dialogue session led by Assoc CIPD, Regional Head APAC, CIPD May Leng Kwok, titled ‘Global Trends Keeping HR Up at Night’ which focussed on looking at macro level trends and external drivers, PESTLE factors, and how these impact businesses and consequently the HR professionals.

The dialogue revolved around how to manage change in technology advancement, practices that help sustain skills and capabilities of HR professionals, while addressing contrasts and best practices between global and national practices to better prepare people to be future-ready in today’s ever-changing environment.

The dialogue that took place post presentation demonstrated the passion that HR professionals in Brunei have in wanting to continuously improve the services, create positive impacts in their organisations and the nation, while growing their capabilities towards the best in class HR.
