The Miftah An-Nur Islamic International School yesterday handed over a BND24,396.64 donation to Turkiye and Syria Earthquake Humanitarian Fund.
The donation was handed over at a ceremony at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS).
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad received the donation from Miftah An-Nur Islamic International School Executive Principal Bilal Buttar and representatives of students from Year 5 and 6 Eliza Zahra binti Haji Md Nizam, Aesha Ahamad Mostafa and Ulfat Doha Mohammad Mahmudul Kabir.
Acting Director of the Community Development Department (JAPEM) Mirany Floridzah binti Abdul Rahman was in attendance.
The donation was a collective effort by Miftah An-Nur Islamic International School students from February 10 to 15 to help disaster victims and to foster the core values of the school ‘Service to Allah, Service to Each Other and to All Who We Cross Paths.’
The Turkiye and Syria Earthquake Humanitarian Fund was a donation platform set up by the Government His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam from February 14 to May 14.
The fund provides opportunity for the public to donate money directly and transparently, as well as to enable parties to organise charitable activities to ease the burden of people in Turkiye and Syria affected by the earthquake on February 6.
Donations can be made through designated boxes at mosques, suraus and religious halls and banks nationwide.
Donations can also be made directly to Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) account at 00-001-01-0084049, QuickPay service or alternatively sending it directly to the Secretariat of the Humanitarian Fund, at Management and Administration Division of JAPEM during office hours.
Another way to donate is via SMS Brunei Prihatin service by typing BANTU without space followed by the amount 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 50 or 100 and send to 38111 for Datastream Digital Sdn Bhd and Progresif Sdn Bhd subscribers while the number for imagine Sdn Bhd subscribers is 39999.
Charity collection special fund boxes and special fund stickers can be obtained at the Fund Secretariat office during office hours.
