Breakfast is essential for all families as the centre of society is family and at the centre of family is the breakfast table where they start the day together, said Ambassador of Turkiye to Brunei Darussalam Professor Dr Hamit Ersoy during a World Breakfast Day celebration at his residence recently.
He added that Sunday breakfasts are especially significant as they are followed by traditionally-brewed Turkish tea and coffee, and often turn into a convivial family and friends’ gatherings. The celebration, designated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) as the first Sunday of every June, saw a traditional Turkish breakfast spread prepared by embassy chef Adem Can.
Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin and Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh were also present.
