The Embassy of Turkiye in Brunei Darussalam donated a collection of books on Turkish culture to the Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Library in a ceremony yesterday.

The embassy hopes the books will provide students and library visitors more information on a range of subjects, including the royal cuisines of Turkiye, and the country’s history, literature and arts.

Ambassador of Turkiye to Brunei Darussalam Professor Dr Hamit Ersoy handed over the books to Vice-Chancellor of UBD Dr Hazri bin Haji Kifle. In his speech, the ambassador shared that Turkiye has over 300,000 international students from 190 countries, including some from Brunei Darussalam.

The book donation marked a friendly gesture and cordial relationship in education, culture and arts between the two countries.

To date, three students from Turkiye have pursued and completed their studies at UBD in economics, education and language.

UBD, at the same time, has also sent students for Discovery Year programme for one academic semester to Turkiye.

The ambassador said that he was “looking forward to working on new projects that could enhance the existing cooperation and strengthen ties further”.
