Wan Mohammad Aidi bin Jufriza claimed victory in the Japanese Speech (advanced) category at the 36th Japanese Speech Contest yesterday.
His winning speech titled ‘Even if You Are Not a Teacher, You Are Still a Teacher: My Experience’ earned him a trip to Japan to participate in the Japanese Speech Presentation by Winners of the Japanese Speech Contest in ASEAN Countries organised by the Japan Overseas Enterprise Association.
Muhammad Danish Syazwan bin Sukri and Shamil bin Shrain took second and third place with their speeches ‘Nasi Katok’ and ‘Deeply Drawn To’.
In the beginner level, Nurin Aneesah binti Baharin won first place with ‘My Experience in Theatre’ followed by Awangku Abdul Ghafur Ur Rahman bin Pengiran Abdulrahman with ‘My Favourite Chord Progression in J-pop’ and Siti Damia Syahmina binti Haji Harun with ‘My Hobby’.
Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Arabic School secured first place in the group presentation category with ‘The Impact of Ultraman: Japan’s Superhero Legacy’. Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah College with ‘Geisha’ and Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College with ‘The Cultural Impacts of Japanese Animation aka Anime’ earned second and third place.
Ambassador-Designate of Japan to Brunei Darussalam Kikuta Yutaka presented the prizes. – Fadley Faisal
