Travellers must use MoH-sanctioned ART kits

Only sanctioned antigen rapid test (ART) kits with QR codes from the Ministry of Health (MoH) should be used by incoming travellers into the Sultanate, including returning citizens and residents, said Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar at the daily press conference yesterday.

The minister was responding to a query on whether travellers are allowed to use their own ART kit for the now required screening at home or hotel. The previous mandate required travellers to conduct ART on arrival at the Brunei International Airport.

As part of the recent measures to ease passenger congestion at the airport, travellers will be provided three sanctioned ART kits to be used on the day of arrival and on days two and three, with results to be uploaded on the BruHealth app.

“The ART kits with specified QR codes are given to allow the ministry to determine that all results submitted are genuine, avoiding any suspicious play or tampering of the results,” the minister said, adding that legal action will be taken against violators of the protocol under the provisions of Section 62 (A) of the Infectious Diseases Act, Chapter 204.
