Firefighters raced against time to extricate a trapped driver from a mangled vehicle following a collision with another vehicle near Kampong Lubok Pulau Muslim Cemetery in Tutong District.

DSO Haji Hamdan led seven firefighters from Tutong Fire Station and Bukit Beruang Fire Station to the crash scene after receiving the 7.24pm distress call.

Upon discovering the victim was trapped, the team acted swiftly, bringing in the use of special equipment to free the victim’s legs which had gotten stuck in the mangled mess.

The paramedic team then took over, transporting the victim to Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah Hospital in Tutong District. As of press time, the victim’s fate was not revealed.

Station Commander of Tutong Fire Station ASFR Hajah Siti Alam was also present.

The Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) reminded motorists to always ensure their vehicle is roadworthy, to abide by road traffic regulations, exercise patience towards other road users and avoid getting behind the wheel after consuming medication that can cause drowsiness.
