The Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas in the capital is becoming a hotspot for fitness and recreational activities.
People arrive in the early hours of the day, just after the call for Subuh prayers for brisk walks, cycle, jogs or runs.
It is a popular training spot for teams, particularly those in water sports as the Brunei River is conveniently nearby.
One such team is Lela Cheteria Negara, a local dragon boat team, which will be participating in Malaysia’s Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS) 8th International Dragon Boat Race 2023 in Kota Kinabalu.
The team, representing Brunei, is participating in the 200-metres and 800-metres races for the international and local invited team categories at the event this weekend.
Team manager Haji Bahrin said they are actively training their physical endurance and rowing techniques, adding that with proper and well-organised training, they hope to return home with success and bring glory to the nation.
