    Traditional clothing comes alive in Belait

    A traditional clothing competition organised by the Belait District Youth and Sports Department to mark the royal birthday on Saturday attracted a large number of participants.

    Twenty-four Belait Residents showcased traditional clothing across two separate categories – children and adults.

    Leonish Dexter Lorin was placed first in the children’s category, followed by Grace Genevieve binti Frankey and Angel Sii in second and third places.

    Farhan bin Mohamad was placed first in the adult’s category, followed by Myzifa Arissan bin Aydan and Afieqah binti Rosie in second and third places.

    Acting Head of the Belait Branch Youth and Sports Department Dayangku Hasmaranah binti Pengiran Hassan was also in attendance.

    The Tudung Saji in the Belait District has been transformed into a hub of festivities to mark the beginning of the 77th birthday celebrations of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

    In addition to the booths and stalls offering a variety of food and drinks as well as fun games and activities, the Gerai Perayaan also marks the start of the nightly stage performances.

    Performances each night is organised by groups and agencies according to their chosen theme. – Daniel Lim
