Members of the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Brunei Darussalam (NCCIBD) led by its Vice President Haji Musa bin Haji Adinin, who is also representing the ASEAN Business Advisory Council was in Siem Reap, Cambodia for the 2022 Asean-Korea Business Council (AKBC) General Meeting held on September 15 during the 54th Asean Economic Ministers’ (AEM) meeting and related meetings.
Deputy Secretary General of NCCIBD, Haji Abdul Halim bin Saim who also attended the meeting, highlighted Brunei Darussalam-South Korea ties particularly on the visit by the former South Korea president Moon Jae-in to the Sultanate in 2019 to deepen cooperation through the signing of three memorandum of understanding to enhance cooperation in investment, science and technology and intellectual property.
He also said a joint statement was also issued which outlined the scope of discussions, ranging from infrastructure development and connectivity, to cooperation in defence, education, agriculture, halal industry, tourism, energy, SMEs, FinTech, science and technology, ICT and smart cities.
Haji Abdul Halim also said that in July this year, new consortium Anson International was established with Dongil Shipyard from South Korea as one of the investors who will be responsible in building a shipyard and oversee marine maintenance in the country. Due to COVID-19, such cooperation was placed on hold and will resume next year.
