Laksamana College of Business (LCB) was established in 2003 in partnership with the Kensington College of Business (KCB) in London, United Kingdom (UK) and Abdul Razak Holdings, Brunei Darussalam. LCB created history in 2017 by being the first institution in Brunei to be honoured with the prestigious ASIC global accreditation.
LCB thrives to create an innovative and creative environment to meet students’ needs while catering to the demand of industries and corporates as well. With the launch of the Pearson BTEC (UK) Diploma, HNC and HND programmes in 2009, the college aims to establish itself as a premier UK education provider in Brunei in Business, IT/Computing and Hospitality Management-related courses.
In 2015, LCB officially embarked on a new journey of providing full-fledged degree courses locally. The degree courses at LCB include the BSc (Hons) Computer Science, BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance, BA (Hons) Business Management and BA (Hons) Marketing.
Later, realising a notable gap of progression for their Pearson BTEC Hospitality students, LCB catered for the demand by starting the BA (Hons) International Tourism Management.
These courses are available in both day and evening-time study mode to accommodate working students. In the same year, LCB earned a College Recognition award from the Institute of Travel and Tourism.
The Culinary School by LCB was launched in 2019, the first private institution for Culinary Arts in Brunei running the well-renowned City & Guilds, London Programme. The school now offers, Level 2 Diploma in Food Preparation and Culinary Arts, Patisserie, and Food and Beverage Service as an entry course into the culinary field.
All the culinary programmes are offered in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Scheme, a fully funded programme by the Ministry of Education (MoE) and Manpower Planning and Employment Council (MPEC) for local high school leavers.
Along with that, in early 2020, LCB launched its LCB Sports Centre, making LCB the first ever private college to have its own sports centre.
LCB constantly works closely with many leading industries in Brunei to provide our students with opportunities to learn and observe real industry experiences. Within the same year, the college tied close relations with several well-established companies to be corporate partners.
LCB has now produced 77 first-class honour achievers since 2017 with over 5,000 graduates since it was established in 2003.
LCB has also become the first ever private institution in Brunei to offer Law programme.
From March 2023, the college will begin running their Foundation in Law course awarded by Kensington College of Business and LLB Law degree awarded by The University of Essex, UK.
The LLB Law degree is a 2+1 programme, where students will undertake their studies in LCB, Brunei for the first two years and will complete their final year of studies in the University of Essex, UK.
This is a milestone for LCB to partner with such a prestigious university, standing at 19th place for Law in the UK from THE World University Rankings 2022 and 47th for Law in the THE World University Rankings in 2023.
The college has more plans in store with the construction of its new campus extension to be completed in August this year. The new building will have three floors, of which one will be dedicated to its Culinary School, and the other floors for more classrooms and an auditorium.
