Themed ‘Sustainable Infrastructure Toward a Connected World,’ the annual meeting aims to reaffirm infrastructure’s crucial role in supporting recovery, growth and connectivity. It also reiterates the bank’s commitment toward sustainable and resilient infrastructure investments in a crisis and climate challenged world.

During the opening session, AIIB President Jin Liqun shared the latest achievements, initiatives and policy directions of the bank in spurring infrastructure development in the region as well as in helping member countries mitigate the impacts of evolving global challenges.

Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew emphasised three priority areas for the bank to undertake to support members’ journey towards a sustainable and resilient future: to support projects design and development to create pipelines of robust and bankable infrastructure projects to improve financing attractiveness; facilitate strategic partnerships between policymakers, business and multi-lateral development institutions in creating new opportunities; and to channel more investments in securing the future of food, water and energy resources.
