Tourism directory launched with over 300 listings

The Tourism Development Department launched its first online tourism product directory during a ceremony at the Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah yesterday.

The directory, www.explorebrunei.gov.bn, was launched with some 300 tourism activities, products and services listed across the four districts.

Acting Director of the Tourism Development Department Salinah binti Haji Mohd Salleh said the directory serves as a platform for businesses to showcase their offerings and attract new customers. “With this online presence, we aim to increase visibility for listed businesses and make it easier for customers to connect with them,” she added.

She said the directory is expected to be beneficial for tourism-related businesses in improving their offerings, directing their marketing efforts, and assisting travel agents or operators in designing more appealing travel packages to increase more visitors to the Sultanate.

“Currently, there are approximately 48 travel agents registered and licensed under the Tourism Development Department, with only around 10 actively promoting inbound tourism.

“The Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) is encouraging other travel agents to actively engage in promoting inbound tourism to attract more visitors to the country and make a significant contribution to the nation’s GDP,” she said.
