We are now living in a world where it is impossible to avoid the topic of plastic pollution.
Everything we do seems to involve plastic in some form, from drinking bottled water to unwrapping a burger.
But the less talked about plastic product is polyester clothing. Sure, when we want to get rid of their neglected clothes, we tend to give away to charities. But the question is: how about tattered ones?
While cotton clothes can be refashioned into rags, a vast majority are polyester woven, making them unsuitable for cleaning purposes. But tossing them in the bin seems like a way of making our already dire situation worse.
Perhaps it is time to think more seriously about the extent of our dependence on plastic and find a way to make a habit out of recycling, especially seemingly innocent-looking clothes that are in our wardrobes.
