Thundershowers on the horizon

Brunei Darussalam is still in the Northeast Monsoon season, where active weather condition typically occurs in the afternoon and at night into the early morning.

Active weather condition is forecast starting today until January 28 due to active development of rain clouds over the Sultanate.

Occasional showers and thundershowers are expected with wind gust of up to 45 kilometres per hour during or near heavy showers.

Over Brunei waters, sea state is generally slight up to one metre throughout the week.

The public is advised to take precaution with respect to the forecast active weather condition.

Risks of flash floods can be expected especially at low-lying and flood-prone areas as well as near river banks, particularly during continuous heavy rain that may last for more than an hour and also during high tide. Risks of landslide and falling trees are also expected during showers and gusty condition.

The public, road users and fishermen are advised to stay abreast with the latest weather forecast, advisory and warning issued by Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD), and to ensure safety.
