Three local teams will be representing the country in the Kuala Lumpur International Tug of War Club Championships 2023 to be held at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from tomorrow to September 17.
Two teams from Chainblock Tug of War and one team from HSN Tug of War Team were selected as a result of fruitful discussions by the Brunei Darussalam Tug-of-War Association (BDTA) after the association was invited to participate in the competition.
The national team will compete in the 680 kilogrammes (kg) event for eight pullers.
In addition to the 52 teams from host nation Malaysia, the participating teams include three from Brunei Darussalam; one from Thailand; four from Chinese Taipei; three from India; one from Nepal; and two from South Africa. The weight-in session for the pullers will be held tomorrow while the preliminary round will begin a day later.
Meanwhile, the final rounds of the competition will be held on September 17 followed with a prize presentation ceremony.
BDTA General Secretary Pengiran Haji Mohd Iskandar Shah bin Pengiran Haji Jadid; Deputy General Secretary Awang Jumaat bin Damit; and Technical and Association Referee Haji Sallih bin Osman provided words of encouragement to the teams. – Fadhil Yunus
