Three companies slapped with compound fines

Three companies were recently slapped with compound fines by the Enforcement Unit, Tutong District Office for violating the Miscellaneous Offences Act 2021 for piling garbage and throwing raw food in public area.

The companies have been imposed a BND200 fine and are required to settle the fine within seven days.

Failure to pay the fine within the period from the compound issue date will see the companies being brought to court.

If found guilty, the companies may face a fine of between BND2,000 and BND10,000.

For the second or subsequent offence, they could face between BND10,000 and BND30,000 fine, imprisonment for a period not exceeding 12 months, or both.

The agency reminded the public, companies and business owners to keep the environment clean, especially in areas of business activities as well as public areas.
