The Brunei History Centre held a book discussion session with three authors in conjunction with the Brunei Book Fair 2022 at the Indoor Stadium of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex, Berakas yesterday. The event was held as part of the centre’s initiative to publicise the nation’s history to all levels of society through various history programmes and activities.
The session, aimed to inculcate interest on national history among youth and children, saw Hanafi bin Haji Salleh, author of Merista: Kumpulan Artikel Sejarah; Mardhiah binti Haji Ramli, author of Pasukan Polis Diraja Brunei: Sejarah dan Perkembangan 1921-2004; and Dr Hajah Roziana binti Haji Mahmud, author of Wanita Brunei: Pendidikan Pramerdeka (1914-1983) discuss their works.
The book discussion also aimed to disseminate the roles and function of the centre as a publication unit, share information and knowledge on historical events and facts, introduce and promote books, journals and magazines published by the centre, and generate public interest in national history.
