SEOUL (ANN/THE KOREA HERALD) – Seventeen’s subunit duo, Junghan and Wonwoo, have achieved gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan with their debut subunit single, “This Man,” as announced by the organisation on Wednesday.
The single album, which was released on 17 June, recorded 100,000 shipments by the end of last month.
This milestone brings Seventeen’s total number of gold-certified albums in Japan to 16.
“This Man” made an impressive debut, topping Oricon’s daily single ranking and securing the No 2 spot on both its weekly and weekly combined album rankings.
The album sold over 780,000 copies in its first week, setting a new record for a subunit in K-pop history.
In addition to their success in Japan, the 13-member group is set to host a meet and greet event in Seoul on July 23-24, titled “Seventeen in Carat Land.”
