Third wave sees more home isolation orders

Most positive cases are isolating in their own homes, as 99 per cent of the cases caused by the recent Omicron outbreak in the Sultanate have been identified as Category 1 and Category 2 cases, showing only mild symptoms or are asymptomatic.

This was shared by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar during a press conference yesterday, who added that the rise in the number of patients isolating at home is due to a change in the criteria for home isolation.

“One of the previous criteria for home isolation was that the COVID-19 positive patients should have access to their own toilet. However, patients can now share toilets after carefully cleaning and sanitising it after use, allowing more patients to comfortably isolate at home,” said Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham.

“Those who do not meet the requirements to safely isolate at home will be sent to the National Isolation Centre,” added the minister.
