Third person confirmed dead after shooting in Western Australia

SYDNEY (XINHUA) – Two women and one man have died following a shooting in Western Australia (WA) on Friday.

At about 4.30pm on Friday, emergency services were called to a home on Berkeley Crescent in Floreat, a suburb in Perth’s west, responding to reports of a firearm being charged.

A man in his 60s visited the property where a woman in her 50s and another in her late teens were present.

A spokesperson from WA Police Force said yesterday that the male discharged a firearm, killing the female in her 50s and critically injuring the younger woman, before taking his own life.

“St John WA provided emergency treatment to the younger female before conveying her to Royal Perth Hospital, where she later died,” the spokesperson said.

Police have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths. According to the spokesperson, the male in his 60s is known to the female in her 50s through mutual contact.
