The third returning flight of the Malaysian Battalion Contingent (MALBATT) 850-11 for the peacekeeping mission of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) comprising 216 members of the MALBATT 850-11 including nine members of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) arrived at Subang Airbase, Malaysia on Saturday afternoon.
Assistant Chief of Staff J3 of the Joint Forces Headquarters Malaysian Armed Forces (ACOS J3 JFHQ MAF) Major General Dato’ Tong Veng Leong RMAF welcomed the delegation on arrival. Brunei Darussalam’s Defence Adviser to Malaysia Lieutenant Colonel Rudie Asmawi bin Haji Abidin, senior officers from the MAF and family members of the MALBATT 850-11 contingent were also present.
The ceremony commenced with a parade, general salute from the contingent, followed by the MAF song and a speech by Major General Dato’ Tong Veng Leong. The chanting of ‘Gempur Wira’ and a doa recitation concluded the parade. The last returning flight of MALBATT 850-11 contingent is scheduled to depart from Lebanon to Malaysia tomorrow.
