Young people are called to adapt an ‘out of the box’ mindset to produce innovative products either through modification or improvement to bring the nation to a more competitive level.
This was said by Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) Chief Executive Officer and Director of Technical Education Dr Haji Mohd Zamri bin Haji Sabli, as Chairman of the International Agrotechnology Festival 2023, at the opening ceremony of the Product Innovation Competition 2023 yesterday at Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.
Dr Haji Mohd Zamri added that the competition provides a platform to students and researchers to create innovative products capable of benefitting society and the local food industry as well as agrotechnology, in addition to opening up opportunities for students and researchers to develop new ideas in agrotechnology and entrepreneurship.
The competition’s theme ‘Driving Innovation and Research towards Agrotechnology Sustainability’ coincides with Industrial Revolution 4.0 where technology use is prominent.
The competition is the first innovation product competition jointly organised by IBTE and Politeknik Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Polytechnic (POLISAS), Malaysia in conjunction with the International Agrotechnology Festival 2023.
Also present was Director of POLISAS Norehan binti Silek.
Some 60 students and researchers are contesting in six categories – agrotechnology, aquaculture, horticulture, food technology, green technology and biotechnology.
The event continued with a panel by Ideal Multifeed Farm, Eco Agro Farm (B) Sdn Bhd and Flavorista Sdn Bhd. – Azlan Othman
