‘There’s room for further cooperation’

There is room for cooperation when it comes to economy, trade, investment, culture and tourism between Brunei Darussalam and Iran, said Acting Head at the Embassy of Iran in Brunei Darussalam Abolfazl Azimi.

The bilateral relations between the two countries can be further expanded in the future through joint efforts and determination based on mutual respect and benefit, he said.

He made these comments during the reception of the 45th anniversary of Iran’s Islamic Revolution at the Songket Ballroom of The Rizqun International Hotel last night.

“Iran and Brunei treasure a time-honoured history of exchanges and share a great deal of cultural similarities. Over the past 30 years, these relations have been formed based on three components of mutual respect, promotion of bilateral relations and reciprocally constructive cooperation in multilateralism.

“I strongly believe that given the encouraging momentum of our relationship, there are even greater potentialities for brighter future cooperation,” he added.

“The relationship between Iran and Brunei is vital and we are ready to strengthen bilateral relations with this friendly country in all areas. There is no political obstacle in expanding bilateral relations and relations have been further strengthened by exchanging a number of visits,” said Abolfazl.

This year marks the 34th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries, and in the past three decades, the two countries have enjoyed close cooperation and cordial traditional ties on the basis of mutual respect and understanding.
