His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam received in audience Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob and spouse Datin Sri Muhaini binti Zainal Abidin at the Cheradi Laila Kenchana, Istana Nurul Iman yesterday.
Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri and spouse were welcomed upon their arrival at the Istana Nurul Iman by Their Majesties prior to the audience and subsequently introduced the prime minister and spouse to members of the royal family.
Also present during the audience ceremony were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Raabi’atul ‘Adawiyyah binti Pengiran Haji Bolkiah, His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bolkiah, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Hafizah Sururul Bolkiah, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Umi Kalthum Al-Islam as well as other members of the royal family.
Accompanying the prime minister were Malaysian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dato’ Sri Saifuddin bin Abdullah and Minister of Federal Territories Dato’ Seri Dr Shahidan bin Kasim.
Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof as Minister-in-Attendance and spouse were also present.
His Majesty together with the Malaysian Prime Minister proceeded to Cheradi Ratna Kenchana for a four-eye meeting after the audience ceremony.
Bilateral cooperation to further strengthen relations between Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia were discussed in the meeting and both leaders also exchanged views on issues of mutual importance including post-COVID-19 cooperation, as well as regional developments.
Yesterday’s ceremonies followed with an official luncheon where Their Majesties together with the Malaysian Prime Minister and spouse proceeded to Baitur Rahmah Hall.
Present during the official luncheon were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Raabi’atul ‘Adawiyyah; His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Hafizah Sururul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Umi Kalthum Al-Islam; as well as other members of the royal family.
The official luncheon began with the recitation of Doa Selamat by State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned.
Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri and Datin Sri Muhaini and the delegation were in the Sultanate for a two-day official visit, which marks the Malaysian Prime Minister’s first official visit since taking office in August 21, last year.
