His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam arrived in Jeddah for an official visit to Saudi Arabia yesterday morning.
Accompanying Their Majesties were members of the royal family.
Their Majesties were welcomed on arrival by His Royal Highness Prince Badr bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Makkah, Saudi Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Foreign Trade Dr Majid bin Abdullah Alkassabi and Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Emad bin Abdul Aziz bin Saud Al Muhanna.
Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof and Brunei Darussalam Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Yusoff bin Haji Ismail were also present.
His Majesty is expected to attend a meeting with His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia.
Their Majesties and members of the royal family will also perform umrah.
Brunei and Saudi Arabia have enjoyed warm and long-standing ties since its establishment on July 1, 1987 including cooperation in religious affairs; haj and umrah; visa arrangements; economy and energy.
