(CNA) – South Korean actor Song Jae-rim, widely recognised for his role in the popular K-drama The Moon Embracing the Sun, has passed away at the age of 39.
According to reports from South Korean media, police confirmed that Song was found deceased at his residence on Tuesday afternoon (Nov 12). A friend who was scheduled to meet him for lunch discovered his body. Authorities noted that there were no indications of foul play and a suicide note was reportedly found at the scene.
Song’s funeral is set to take place on Thursday at Yeouido St. Mary’s Hospital in Seoul.
Song Jae-rim began his acting career in the 2009 film Actresses. His breakthrough came with his role as a dedicated bodyguard in The Moon Embracing the Sun in 2012, which catapulted him to fame. He also featured in other notable television series such as Secret Garden, Two Weeks, and Cool Guys, Hot Ramen.
