The Special Mention Teacher’s Day Appreciation award, she explained, is an incentive and recognition to the educator who has successfully contributed to the development of schools and educational institutions in related fields.

“Their service is not limited to the educational institution where they work, but is also seen from their involvement at the community and national level,” she said.

Dr Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati added that the selection and support of the award recipients have also been carried out by committees appointed at several levels including departmental, ministerial and national.

“For the recipient, this award is an achievement and a milestone in the history of service as a teacher or school leader,” she said.

The ministers presented the Special Mention awards.

The function proceeded with the showcase of a Teacher’s Day video clip exhibiting aspects of pedagogy and the evolution of technology in formal and religious education in Brunei Darussalam from the perspectives of teachers, and a video clip of the 32nd Teacher’s Day theme song Guruku Harapan Negara.

Also in attendance were permanent secretaries, vice chancellor, Ra’es, deputy permanent secretaries, heads of departments, officers and staff from the MoE and MoRA.
