Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) and Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) yesterday held a Doa Kesyukuran and Surah Yaasiin recitation ceremony in conjunction with the 48th birthday of His Royal Highness Prince (Dr) Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, the Pro-Chancellor of UBD, UNISSA and UTB.
The event at the UBD Mosque saw Minister of Religious Affairs cum UNISSA Council Deputy Chairman Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman as the guest of honour.
UBD Vice-Chancellor Datin Dr Hajah Anita Binurul Zahrina binti Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Wijaya Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Aziz, UNISSA Rector Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal and UTB Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman also attended, alongside academic teaching staff, officers and staff members of UBD, UNISSA and UTB.
The event included a mass Maghrib, Sunnat Hajat and Isyak prayers led by the UBD Mosque Imam, who also led the recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Doa Kesyukuran.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defence (MinDef) yesterday also organised a Doa Kesyukuran ceremony held simultaneously across all suraus at Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) camps, bases and garrisons in all districts, including Pulau Baru-Baru.
The Surau Ad-Difa’ in Bolkiah Garrison was the focal point, seeing Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof attending the event alongside RBAF Commander Major General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sahat and other senior MinDef and RBAF officials.
The ceremony commenced with a mass Maghrib prayer, followed by Sunnat Hajat prayer and recitation of Surah Yaasiin, before concluding with Isyak prayer led by Surau Ad-Difa’ Imam Mohd Khairol Azmi bin Haji Salleh.
The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) held a similar event at the temporary surau of the police headquarters in Gadong yesterday.
Commissioner of Police Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohammad Irwan bin Haji Hambali was the guest of honour.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Sulaiman bin Alidin, directors, deputy directors, officers-in–charge of police districts, formation heads, senior officers, officers and personnel, as well as RBPF staff also attended.
The event – organised by the RBPF Islamic Religious Body – began with mass Maghrib prayer, followed by Sunnat Hajat prayer and Doa Kesyukuran led by Police Headquarters Surau Imam APO/Staff Sergeant 6472 Mohammad Yusri bin Haji Abu Bakar.
