Thailand’s export growth eases in April

BANGKOK (XINHUA) – Thailand’s exports, a key driver of the country’s economic growth, climbed 9.9 per cent year on year in April, data showed on Friday.

The growth, below market expectation of 14.6 per cent, moderated from a rise of 19.5 per cent registered in March, according to data released by the country’s Ministry of Commerce.

The country’s exports have kept expanding for the 14th consecutive month, but there has been pressure from the Russia-Ukraine conflict, according to the ministry.

The ministry expected the country’s exports to expand further in 2022 as agricultural and food product exports tend to increase and a weakening baht helps boost exports.
