Cadets from the Royal Thai Naval Academy participated in a beach clean-up with the local community at Muara Beach yesterday.
“The beach clean-up is part of our activities to meet with the local people,” said Royal Thai Navy Lieutenant Napadai, adding that the event was participated by locals, Thai people in the country and naval personnel from the HTMS Taksin, HTMS Bhumipol Adulyadej and HTMS Kraburi.
The three Royal Thai Navy frigates are visiting the Sultanate as part of a three-day training activity to provide the cadets with experience in navigating international waters and visiting ports in various countries.
Prior to the visit, the training squadron had docked in Hong Kong.
Overall, the training activity lasts 29 days, covering a total sea distance of 4,250 nautical miles from the Royal Thai Naval Academy with a total sailing time of 329 hours. The cadets are training in various aspects of navigation, military naval tactics, maritime operations and naval engineering.
The short visit also commemorates the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Brunei Darussalam and Thailand. Other activities planned include a visit to the Malay Technology Museum and Maritime Museum, an open tour of the HTMS Bhumipol Adulyadej and a reception aboard the HTMS Taksin.
