    Textbook upgrade in order

As a parent, I shared my child’s excitement for the first day of school in 2024, as she got to reunite with her friends after a long break.

However, when I went to pick her up after school yesterday, I was struck by the same disappointment as the beginning of last year, regarding the state of some of her textbooks.

While there are a few newer editions in the midst, some textbooks look suspiciously like those I had used during my school days. Worse still are the missing pages of some of these books. How are these children supposed to learn from textbooks that have seen better days?

In the end, parents have no choice but to fork out a sum of money to either buy these textbooks from a store or make copies off those in better conditions.

I hope the authority could look into a way to upgrade these textbooks, especially among children from less fortunate homes.
