Tennis tournament winners named

Mohd Aiman Abdullah and Pengiran Aki Ismasufian bin Pengiran Haji Ibrahim dominated after securing wins in several categories of the International Tennis Federation Masters Tour: MT100 Bandar Seri Begawan at the National Tennis Complex yesterday.

In the men’s singles 30, Mohd Aiman was handed a walkover win against Jazmi Jaafar. Jean Swee Ling was crowned winner in the women’s single 30 category after defeating Faadzilah Gapar.

For the men’s doubles 30, Mohd Aiman partnered with Pengiran Aki Ismasufian to win against Sufri Ismail and Fuzan Mumin.

Billy Wong won the men’s singles 35 category after defeating Chua Shen Shung 6-0, 6-1 in straight sets.

In the women’s doubles 35 category, Letricia Goh and Hana Handerson defeated Tina Osman and Iffa Rahman 6-1, 2-6 and 10-3.

Karun Babu from Singapore cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win against Sufferizal Marzuki to win the men’s singles 40 category, while Rafeah Isa beat Hafimi Haadi in the women’s category.

The men’s doubles 40 category saw Vincent Tan and Sufferizal Marzuki beat Jimmy Chin and Charles Henri Rodolph ER in the final 6-3, 6-1.

Pengiran Aki Ismasufian also won the men’s singles 45 category after defeating Pengiran Sallehuddin bin Pengiran Haji Damit 6-2, 6-2 in the final.

In the men’s singles 50, Charles Henri Rodolph ER was crowned champion after defeating Emund Sumping 6-0.

Acting Director of Youth and Sports Haji Mohamad Rosfazilah bin Haji Yusly presented prizes to the winners.

The ceremony also saw the presentation of junior shirts sponsorship from Progresif Sdn Bhd to Brunei Darussalam Tennis Association (BDTA), handed over by its acting chief executive officer Abdul Hakeem bin Haji Basir.

BDTA, as a member of the International Tennis Federation (ITF), initiated the tournament to be hosted in the Sultanate to provide access to all levels of regional competition and with a vision of increasing Brunei’s profile as a destination for competitive tennis. – James Kon
