Temporary closure of some fuel stations

Several fuel stations in the Brunei Muara, Temburong and Tutong districts will be temporarily closed from 9am to 11am on selected dates for inspections and verification.

The Weights and Measures Unit (SDT), Industry and Business Ecosystem Division (IBE) under the Ministry of Finance and Economy will carry out verification of accuracy readings on fuel dispensing pumps at a number of fuel stations.

The temporary closure is for the safety and well-being of the public and the workforce involved the inspection and verification.

The affected fuel stations are Keriam Petrol Station (PAKATAN), Tutong tomorrow, Berakas Petrol Station on January 18, Tumasek Petrol Station and Batang Duri Petrol Station on January 19 and Mar’azmala Petrol Station on January 21.

The inspection and verification is in accordance with Chapter 151 of the Weights and Measures Act 1983. As per the stipulated guidelines under the Act, all weighing and measuring instruments used for trading purposes are required to be checked for accuracy and validity, and that the instruments have already been registered with the SDT Unit.

The routine inspection is conducted thrice a year.
