A number of petrol stations nationwide will temporarily close in January 2025 for the verification of fuel dispensing pump accuracy by the Industry and Business Ecosystem Division (IBE) through the Weights and Measures Unit (SDT) under the Ministry of Finance and Economy.
The verification process, carried out under Chapter 151 of the Weights and Measures Act 1983, ensures all weighing and measuring machines used for trading purposes to be checked for their accuracy and validity, and whether the machines have already been registered with the SDT.
The fuel stations affected are Mar’azmala Petrol Station on January 6, Berakas Petrol Station on January 7, Tumasek Petrol Station on January 8, Perniagaan Melayu Sdn Bhd Petrol Station, Shell Service Station on January 9, Kampong Keriam Petrol Station (Pakatan Tutong) in Tutong District and Batang Duri Petrol Station in Temburong Distrcit on January 23.
The closure will take place from 9am to 11am and the process is expected to last around two hours. The routine inspection is carried out three times a year.
