Temporary closure of selected petrol stations

Several petrol stations will be temporarily closed for verification of accuracy readings on fuel dispensing pumps in accordance with Chapter 151 of the Weights and Measures Act 1983, said the Industry and Business Ecosystem Division (IBE), through the Weights and Measures (SDT) Unit under the Ministry of Finance and Economy, yesterday.

The stations that will be inspected are: Syarikat Stesen Minyak Koperasi Perniagaan dan Perusahaan Melayu Berhad on February 5, Syarikat Stesen Minyak Ikatan Teluk Mewah on February 6, Syarikat Stesen Minyak Masjory on February 7, Syarikat Stesen Minyak Mabohai on February 12, Syarikat Stesen Minyak Bebatik and Syarikat Stesen Minyak SEPAKAT on February 13, Syarikat Stesen Minyak Riverine on February 14, Koperasi Persatuan Kampong Lubok Pulau (KOPEKLAP) Dengan Tanggungan Berhad on February 19, Syarikat Stesen Minyak Telisai Sdn Bhd on February 20 and Syarikat Stesen Minyak Roxana on February 27.

Following the stipulated guidelines, weighing and measuring machines used for trading purposes have to be inspected for accuracy and validity, and whether the machines have been registered with the STD Unit.

Considering the safety and well-being of the public as well as the workforce involved throughout the inspection and verification process, the petrol stations will be closed from 9am until completion, with the process estimated to take two hours.

The routine inspection is conducted three times a year. – James Kon
