Some 28 participants attended a talk featuring Ir Terry D Jayasuriya on ‘Functional Safety For The Process Industry’, organised by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Brunei Network recently.
The talk marked the beginning of a monthly technical talk series, according to a press release from IET Brunei Network.
Ir Terry D Jayasuriya discussed the importance of functional safety on preventing dangerous outcomes, including the IEC61551 safety requirements and how to adhere to them.
He also discussed the standard guidelines that aid in the design process, implementation as well as the maintenance of safety instrumented systems.
The talk concluded with a question and answer session where attendees posed enquiries into a range of applications and design considerations.
