Technical graduates bound for educational journey

Three graduates of HNTec in Travel and Tourism at the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) departed for Phuket, Thailand to participate in the ASEAN-ROK Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Mobility Programme.

The graduates comprised of Nur Humaizah binti Haji Mohammad Bohari, Nurul Saiyidah Nafisah binti Haji Mohneh and Nur Zahidah binti Abdul Hamid.

The programme will be held at Phuket Vocational College in Thailand.

IBTE Director and Chief Executive Officer Dr Haji Mohd Zamri bin Haji Sabli was present to send off the participants at the Brunei International Airport.

The programme, fully-funded by ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Fund aims to reduce competency gaps in priority vocational skills in Southeast Asia.

The mobility programmes are structured to conduct theory and practical in classes at the host institutions as well as arrange internships in the industries to apply the knowledge and skills introduced in the curriculum.

The 12-week mobility programme includes four-week on-the-job trainings.

The programme’s objectives are to strengthen core areas of ASEAN’s common TVET programmes; reduce the gap in job competency among countries; promote cross-cultural exchanges between ASEAN member states; and to increase institutional collaboration. – Rokiah Mahmud
