    Teams compete in dikir competition

    Some 21 teams comprising mosque officers, takmir committee members, and Muslimah, above the age of 45 competed in the nationwide dikir competition at the RPN Kampong Pandan Mosque, Kuala Belait on Wednesday.

    In the men’s group, RPN Kampong Pandan ‘B’ Mosque was placed first followed by Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque in Mukim Sengkurong and Pehin Datu Imam Haji Abdul Mokti Mosque in Kampong Burong Pingai Ayer in second and third place.

    Meanwhile, the invited team from the Ministry of Education secured first place in the women’s group, while RPN Kampong Pandan ‘B’ Mosque and Kampong Labi Mosque won second and third place. Both RPN Kampong Pandan ‘B’ Mosque in the men’s group and the invited team from the Ministry of Education in the women’s group also received the best dress award.

    The competition, organised by the Mosque Affairs Department through the Imarah Division, in collaboration with the takmir committee of RPN Kampong Pandan Mosque, saw Acting Director of Mosque Affairs Haji Amir Hisham bin Haji Masri attending as the guest of honour on behalf of the Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary (Administration and Finance) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

    The competition was aimed to promote the culture of dikir, foster community ties and enhance participants’ recitation skills and knowledge.

    It also served to bring the participants closer through practising zikir and selawat for Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in daily life.

    The teams competed in two groups, 10 in the men’s group and 11 in the women’s group. – Daniel Lim
