Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) Assistant Rector (Academic Affairs) Professor Dr Siti Sara binti Haji Ahmad, commended the dedication and perseverance of the university’s students and graduates at the Medals and Book Prize Awards ceremony, held in conjunction with the 14th UNISSA Hafl Al-Takharruj at Royal Berkshire Hall of the Royal Brunei Polo and Riding Club in Kampong Jerudong. Seventy-four graduates and students were handed medals and book prizes.
Among them, were the Pro-Chancellor Medal and the Rector Medal, as well as 10 University medals and 62 book prizes.
Co-chair of the organising committee Professor Dr Siti Sara said that the medals and book prizes were awarded based on specific criteria, which included categories such as final-year and non-final-year students, excellent results in Al-Quran course (Arabic and English medium) and outstanding performance in the Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) course. She also highlighted that the criteria assessed not only academic excellence but also achievements in extracurricular activities, community service and character.
Professor Dr Siti Sara said that the recognition of these achievements was not solely due to individual efforts but was made possible by the continuous support, guidance and prayers of parents, guardians and academic staff.
She reminded the students to continue striving for excellence, to stay resilient in facing future challenges and to remain focused on their goals.
Attorney General Datin Seri Paduka Hajah Nor Hashimah binti Haji Mohammed Taib, a member of the UNISSA Council, was the guest of honour.
Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad and UNISSA Rector Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, were also present at the event. – Rokiah Mahmud
