Imams emphasised the importance of respecting teachers in yesterday’s Friday sermon while echoing the significance of Teacher’s Day.
According to the Imams, a quality teacher is one who embodies dedication, inspiration, and innovation in their teaching endeavours.
Teachers’ possess a profound understanding of the subjects they teach while upholding the highest standards of professional ethics, the Imams said. “Such educators ensure that the learning process remains continuous, comprehensive, and accessible to students.” Focusing on this year’s Teacher’s Day theme, ‘Quality Teachers, Drivers of Educational Transformation’,
Imams elaborated on the concept of educational transformation.
They described it as a dynamic process aimed at advancing Brunei Darussalam’s educational system, rooted in the teachings of Islamic values and guided by governance principles aligned with the Maqasid Syariah.
The transformation places a strong emphasis on the professional development of teachers, recognising education plays a pivotal role in shaping a progressive and competitive society.
Imams underlined the significance of knowledge in a person’s life, as it serves as a means to succeed in both this world and the hereafter. Teaching is a noble calling that carries great honour and dignity, Imams said.
“It requires patience and unwavering commitment to the task of educating future generations.
“In Islam, teaching is highly rewarded, especially when the knowledge shared leads towards goodness.
“Teachers also hold a unique position as role models, guiding students in adopting virtuous values, positive attitudes, and essential life skills,” they said. – Azlan Othman
