Teacher professional development, apprenticeships and immersion programmes have been quite successful in producing teachers and school leaders, said Minister of Education Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh during yesterday’s 19th Legislative Council (LegCo) session.
LegCo member Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Suyoi bin Haji Osman suggested the review of success rates in teachers’ training before passing the budget to the Ministry of Education.
In her reply, the minister said that the efficiency of the programmes will be reviewed from time to time.
Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Suyoi earlier criticised some programmes as burdensome to teachers, as there are many forced on them which they feel have no added value to their teaching.
