Teacher’s day walkathon on October 8

A three-kilometre walkathon will be held at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien on October 8 at 7am, said Acting Director of Co-Curriculum Education Department at the Ministry of Education (MoE) Julaihi bin Mohamad/Mohamat during a press conference at the ministry yesterday.

The walkathon, organised by the MoE through its Co-Curriculum Education Department, will be held to commemorate the Teacher’s Day Celebration this year.

The acting director said, “The event is organised to enliven the 33rd Teacher’s Day celebration themed ‘Guru Berkualiti Pemacu Transformasi Pendidikan’.”

Julaihi said, “It aims to strengthen the relation between the MoE and the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) and encourage a healthy lifestyle.

“The route starts and ends at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien. A side event called Jejak Ta’limi – a mini treasure hunt activity around the capital – will also be held.”

Participation in the walkathon event is open to the MoE, the MoRA and the public, while Jejak Ta’limi is only open to the two ministries. A team of three, comprising a parent who works under MoE or MoRA, is needed to compete in the treasure hunt.

Registration is open from tomorrow to August 17. The official walkathon shirts will be distributed to participants on September 11-16 at the Department of Co-Curriculum Education headquarters and branches.
